One of the most striking trends we are observing in the curriculum field is the renewal of interest in a firm and clear national or system-wide framework: of goals and objectives; required subjects or subject areas for study; guidelines or procedures for assessment and a range of monitoring and accountability measures. Core curriculum is a widespread phenomenon.
