ABSTRACT
Ideas about materials and about energy underlie an understanding of living processes and ecosystems. It is therefore important to establish a coherent view of the natural world as a whole in which the view of living processes and ecosystems is consistent with the view of materials and energy. This domain relates to the 'Materials' domain in having a focus upon the continuity of matter between non-living and living things. It also relates to the 'Energy' domain in having a focus upon energy transfers accompanying living processes.
