ABSTRACT
This chapter reports a preliminary test of the hypothesis that a kin-based model can account for the transmission of ceramic style. It is shown that a kinbased model of transmission of the potter’s craft is valid in a modern peasant society in which pottery production is almost exclusively oriented to the tourist trade, and that this kin-based model also has material correlates in the residence patterns.
