Older women and housing—prospects for the 1990s

Elderly people have over many years become increasingly marginalised. This is seen in their housing circumstances, incomes and opportunities. The 1980s saw a real decline in the housing and living standards for large numbers of elderly people. The reality was not affected by government attempts to counter it by promoting the notion of the ‘Woopie’ (well-off older person).
