ABSTRACT
Among all the major founding fathers of modern sociology there are, by general agreement, three who stand out-Marx, Weber and Durkheim. The following three parts will deal with each of these in turn. We will describe the main ideas of each author and at the same time give some indication of their continuing relevance to the analysis of contemporary social problems.
