ABSTRACT

In Unit 6, you learned how to ‘read’ tables, graphs and diagrams to get all the information you could from them. In this unit, you will learn to analyse the information. This means that you will study the information to find only what you need to answer your questions. A: Example

Look again at the table on page 16. You read and understood the information: different parts of a school are at different temperatures at different times of the day.

Suppose that some students have complained that their classroom gets hotter and hotter during the day. Look at the information in the table again. This time, you have a question: Does the classroom get hotter during the day?

(The classroom is 15°C at 9 a.m., 18°C at midday and 20°C at 3 p.m.)

B: Example

Here is a weather chart like the one you see on the T.V. There is a key at the side of it to tell you what the symbols mean. Which coast is likely to have fine weather? Look for the sunshine symbols. Can you see a pattern along the east coast? What sort of weather can the west coast expect?
