ABSTRACT
The central theme of this book is that language is always changing. In vocabulary, in pronunciation, in grammar, in meaning, and to some extent in spelling, change is a constant and unavoidable fact of life. Language has been changing since it first appeared on earth; it is changing now; it will surely continue to change for as long as human beings survive.
