It is impossible to survey the literature on preschool Rorschachs without becoming acutely aware of the persistent unresolved conflicts around basic methodological issues and the diversity of opinion around many substantive ones. In retrospect, such controversies appear inevitable. When an instrument already subject to dispute is used with a group on the fringe of the population to which it is usually applied, disagreements about how and with whom the test should be used are to be expected.
