ABSTRACT
It is one of the paradoxes of psychotherapy that although most practitioners are fierce champions of their own particular approach or school, there is no firm evidence that any one method is more effective overall than any other. It seems, rather, that psychotherapy is a Caucus race in which as Luborsky and Singer (1975) have put it, quoting Frank quoting Carroll, ‘everyone has won and all must have prizes’.
