ABSTRACT

The world today is enmeshed in conflict. The colonial empires of the last century have unraveled. This is best seen in the fragmentation of the Russian Empire but it is pervasively evident in other parts of the world. Paradoxically, colonialism and nationalism, with its central orchestration of power, had mitigated ethnic, tribal, religious, and racial conflict between diverse groups. In a manner similar to Freud's concept of the primal horde (Freud, 1921), the killing of the father has led to increasing conflicts between siblings.
