ABSTRACT

Although Freud did not appreciate its significance, it is now generally accepted that Dora, whom Freud (1905a) attempted to analyze from October through December, 1900, was an adolescent (Erikson, 1961; Glenn, 1980). Freud at that time (almost a hundred years ago) was constructing his revolutionary theories step by step, and could not be expected to have full knowledge of all the stages of psychological development at once. Naturally, after his death, analysts continue to amplify and correct his findings.
