ABSTRACT
The Allied military forces operating under the cover of twelve UN Resolutions intervened to restore the territorial integrity of Kuwait; in doing so they invaded and temporarily occupied Iraqi territory. That was described at the time as a ‘peacekeeping exercise’ overwhelmingly sanctioned by the international community.
