ABSTRACT

So the merchant set off further-tortured and hungry, and he found the skhima-monk's cell. And he entered and saw an elder sitting at a table and before him was a crust of bread. The merchant greeted him and the monk responded with an invitation to eat some bread with him. They ate some bread but the crust never diminished. Then the merchant confessed the crime he had committed and the monk heard him out and replied, "Alright, my son, I will absolve you of your sin if you will go far away with me."
