ABSTRACT
The growth of a global economy is transforming the world. Two major technical revolutions have triggered the process. First, higher levels of energy mobilization have been reached, and this energy is increasingly available in concentrated forms. Second, more efficient ways of noting, storing, processing and circulating information have developed, which allows for increased clarity, more precise control and more sophisticated management.
