ABSTRACT
My quest to understand the activism of African-American women seeking abortions and birth control stems from experiences shared with millions of women who want real choices as to when, and under what conditions, we will have children. Here is my definition of what it means to be “pro-life” and “pro-choice”—the right to have, or not to have, children and the right to raise them free from racism, sexism and poverty.
