ABSTRACT

That phallocentrism and logocentrism are accomplices1 and that there is some relationship between feminism and deconstruction may be taken as improper suggestions in some quarters. Some will say that the relationship must be a ‘union forever deferred’2 due to irreconcilable differences. Others will suspect priapic and duplicitous deconstruction of using feminism for its own gratification. There will be those who see cocky, cosmopolitan feminism moving out and setting up with deconstruction over at its place. And there may even be those who see deconstruction behaving very properly, proposing marriage to a flattered and blushing feminism.3
