What is it like to be born into an ethnic group that is considered second rate by the dominant culture in the country of origin? What is it like to consolidate a sense of self and identity when one's parents are dejected and uprooted? What are the psychological consequences of the quandary between loyalty to one's family and the distinct sense that one needs to break out of the confines of one's upbringing?
