ABSTRACT
Thought of the future is momentous; but why wish to project forward? Since we know one can only extrapolate from present concerns, what does it mean to ask where anthropology is going? Is it in order to imagine ways in which present concerns might also be part of the future’s past, the beginnings of something still to grow, an origin point for posterity?
