ABSTRACT
Menarche, the onset of menstruation, is one of a series of psychological events that occurs during puberty as well as the most obvious sign of the physical attainment of adult reproductive status. Menarche, unlike other physical events occurring at the same time, is imbued with special social and psychological meaning related to menstruation and reproductive capability, as well as being embedded in the stage of growth we know as puberty.
