ABSTRACT
Research proceeds by utilizing operational referents for the constructs of a theory to test if the constructs interrelate as the theory states. As previously discussed (e.g., Section 5.3), factor analysis can be used to select a representative subset of the variables, directly test interrelationships of constructs, and so forth. The present chapter includes several research applications of factor analysis that have not been sufficiently discussed in prior chapters.
