ABSTRACT

In the previous chapters we have traced some of the hopes and fears that attach themselves to the person in the role of teacher or student. Now we shall turn our attention to the process of learning as such. We shall go on to discuss the teacher’s function in providing and maintaining an attitude of mind which facilitates learning. Learning is the specific task for which students and teachers come together. It is a highly complex task, not only because of the inherent complexity of any subject studied but because of the emotions aroused by the learning situation itself.
