ABSTRACT

This section provides a brief synopsis of some of the journals and magazines that provide reflections on the war. Descriptions are limited to the war years. David Doughan and Denise Sanchez’s Feminist Periodicals, 1855-1984 (I11) offers a more comprehensive guide to publications with some feminist content, but therefore excludes the more conservative penny weeklies, which were the source of numerous strategies for managing war’s distresses. For information on holdings the reader is referred to the British Union-Catalogue of Periodicals, although the British Newspaper Library at Colindale can be considered a generally reliable location.
