What about the problem of alternative hypotheses that I mentioned earlier? When I discussed the hypothetico-deductive method, I observed that the occurrence of predicted data cannot accord significant support to a hypothesis by itself because data that accord with one hypothesis always accord with other hypotheses, thus adding no support to any hypothesis in particular.
