ABSTRACT
Up to this point discussion has been confined to simple sentences and the internal structure of phrases has been ignored. This chapter introduces complex sentences and deals with relations within one type of phrase, the possessive phrase. The following sections cover in turn the Relational Grammar treatment of Equi NP Deletion, Extraposition, and Raising. The last section on Raising or Ascension, as it is also known as in RG, covers clausal ascension and possessor ascension.
