ABSTRACT
There are many themes which, although general rather than personal, can enable people to bring out important feelings in the process of painting and subsequent discussion.
70. ‘Four Elements’ Picture Series
This series based on the four ancient elements of air, earth, fire and water. Paint 24 pictures on the themes below, each on a separate sheet: (a) Earth series: cave-hut-house-courtyard-field-earth. (b) Water series: spring-brook-river-lake-sea-water. (c) Air series: breath-wind-storm-cloud-sky/heaven-air. (d) Fire series: torch-fireplace-lamp-hearth/fire-light-fire. These can be used as discussion points, comparing pictures of same series and comparing how different people have interpreted the theme. Some people will find that they have more affinity to one series than others and this can be a basis for discussion.
