ABSTRACT
Barbara Riddick is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Education, Trent Polytechnic. A qualified educational psychologist, she formerly ran the Nottingham University Toy Library and the Melrose Centre for Handicapped Children. Prior to working in the Child Development Research Unit at Nottingham University, she was Research Officer at the Thomas Coram Research Unit at London University where she was involved in researching and developing teaching programmes for the parents, teachers and nurses of handicapped children.
