ABSTRACT

Patients attending an infertility clinic are naturally looking to resolve their childlessness by having a child. As has been seen, this road is not open to all; in this study 16 (53 per cent) had a child during the course of the study, three (10 per cent) as a result of DI (donor insemination). In addition, a child was placed for adoption with one of the couples and another couple fostered several children. At the final interview 13 (43 per cent) were still without children. Some of these childless couples were having to make firm deci-sions about a future without children.
