ABSTRACT
The overwhelming majority of people in almost all Third World countries live in rural areas, practising subsistence agriculture. It is with this sector that Part Three is concerned, and in particular the effect on the women of development planning which, as outlined in Part Two, fails to acknowledge them as participants in the development process. The impact on women of the increasingly dual economy, cash and subsistence, is also outlined as is the contribution of male-biased planning to this division.
