ABSTRACT
A central contention of the ‘cultural critique’ analysis is that Britain’s culture, especially since about 1870, is endemically anti-capitalist and in particular anti-industrial and anti-manufacturing. This is clearly an underlying and key presupposition of this viewpoint and no analysis of this critique can fail to address the matters raised by its proponents.
