ABSTRACT

The office is probably the working environment that has changed the most over the last five to 10 years. Advances in computer technology have radically altered the way in which people do, or can, work. Wireless networking permits users to work almost anywhere at any time. But although technology has changed so much, users still face the same kinds of problem they encountered 10–20 years ago. Most of the problems stem from how people use their equipment and how they perform their work throughout the day. Users often experience upper limb pain, backache, headaches or sore eyes simply because they have not made minor adjustments to their equipment or they work for lengthy periods repeating the same type of work without much in the way of a break or change in activities.
