ABSTRACT

Compared to other American users, after 1945 the American Air Force 1 brought the highest number of Austrian and German scientists and technicians to the United States. The Air Force especially looked for experts who had been involved in Germany's previous research efforts in high-velocity aerodynamics. 2 The following paper deals with both the motives the Air Force had in hiring this particular group of German scientists and the results the application of German knowledge had in the US.
