ABSTRACT

Trad i t i ona l grammars often have a section on 'the compar i son o f adjectives and adverbs', but it is by no means only adjectives and adverbs that par t ic i - pate in comparat ive constructions. Here our discussion and examples w i l l take a broader view, l o o k i n g in general at how Ca ta lan expresses concepts like 'more . . . than ' , 'less/fewer . . . than ' , 'as (many/much) . . . as', 'the more . . . the more ' , 'most ' , 'least', and so on.
