ABSTRACT

Like the last chapter, this one begins from a practical question, rooted in a feminist concern for speaking for myself and listening to the personal voices of others. If I am worth listening to, then so are others. If others are worth listening to, then so am I. This presupposes that we are able to speak and listen to each other. The question is, which others do I listen to, and this question itself presupposes the further question, which others is it possible for me to listen to?
