ABSTRACT

In the last chapter various emotions were discussed and it was shown how an apparent paradox involved in finding a politics of emotion and rationality had been resolved. In this chapter I look particularly at emotions related to the self, in the cases of self-esteem and self-creation. They are examples of the resolution of the paradox: for each case I show how it is possible to generate a politics of emotion in both the senses that were distinguished in the last chapter.
