ABSTRACT
Lord Lonsdale1 asked me if I had seen Wordsworth’s new publication on the Cintra Convention. He sd. Wordsworth sent [it] to Him & last night He read a dozen pages of it, & thought it written in a very bad taste, not with plainness & simplicity such [as] is proper to a political subject, but in a style inflated & ill suited to it. – I sd. it was remarkable that in His Poetry He affects a simplicity approaching to puerility, while in Politics in which plain statement & deduction is alone required He assumes the reverse of it.
