ABSTRACT

G.Chaliand, Revolution in the Third World (Harvester, 1977) provides a general overview, while J.W.Lewis, Peasant Rebellion and Communist Revolution in Asia (Stanford University Press, 1974) is concerned with the rural roots of revolution. B.Szajkowski, Marxist Governments: A World Survey (Macmillan, 1981) and P.Wiles, The New Communist Third World (Croom Helm, 1982) discuss regimes which often, though not always, have revolutionary origins. For further enlightenment, it may be best to read about individual third world revolutions and the regimes which follow from them, especially Vietnam, Cuba and Ethiopia.
