ABSTRACT

This chapter will deal with the three remaining sexist problems: sex appropriateness, familism, and sexual dichotomism. They have been identified as “derived” not because they are unimportant, but because they can be logically derived from one of the major problems: Sex appropriateness is a subform of a double standard. Familism is an extreme form of gender insensitivity, often in combination with androcentricity. Sexual dichotomism, finally, is an extreme form of a double standard.
