ABSTRACT
The previous chapter dealt with a key curriculum question – ‘What
content should be taught?’ and also, since an immediate answer to that is
‘knowledge’, the logically prior question ‘What is the nature of
knowledge?’. However, in the years since this book was first published a
relatively new subject within the study of education has come very much
into its own, namely ‘curriculum’ or ‘curriculum and instruction’.
