ABSTRACT
In the context of this chapter, membranes are intended to imply those materials applied as an impervious layer in liquid or sheet form which are designed to protect the supporting substrate from water penetration or corrosive attack in the event of loss of integrity of the surfacing material due to chemical attack, mechanical damage, thermal stresses or age.
