ABSTRACT
Although soluble products of weathering may travel a long way down the slope before being precipitated or may even be washed away altogether, it is rare for the insoluble products, like clays, to move very far. The movement is, nonetheless, a result of throughflow patterns. Redeposition of clay particles in B horizons mainly takes place along the sides of the soil pores making them smaller and thereby reducing permeability. This can be clearly seen in a thin section of soil (Fig. 3.4).
