ABSTRACT
Change in gender rôles and gender definitions has been an insistent force shaping social and economic life over the past two decades. As women and men transformed their activities, so they reshaped social institutions, personal relationships and human self-definitions. These are changes that have deep personal and institutional significance, and they have affected all social actors.
