ABSTRACT
Consider the following passage, previously examined in chapter 4.
Last night, Fred was washing some shirts in his apartment building laundromat. While reading his magazine, he realized that he had no coins left for the dryer. It took Fred twenty minutes to get some change from a building acquaintance. When he got back, Fred found that his washer had overflowed. The place was a mess and the janitor was furious.
