ABSTRACT

As the process of globalization expands throughout the world, nations experience various exchanges of culture and movements of people. 1 Mutual interactions between different cultures are bound to create both conflicts and acceptance. Multicultural tolerance and peaceful coexistence requires transformative realization where the shared historical paths among China, Japan, and Korea are no exception. This chapter analyzes the 1931 Wanpaoshan incident involving multiple cultures, identities, and interests in order to delineate a useful template for today's historical reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
