ABSTRACT
The incarnation remains a primary point of departure between Christians and Muslims. From disagreement over the nature of Jesus stems the debate on the Trinity above and the debate on the crucifixion below. We here explore once again the names of Jesus in the Qur'an and their meaning in dialogue. We will focus on the titles “Son of Mary” and “Word of God” as new studies have illuminated these. We here begin, however, with that most controversial of declarations.
