STEP 1 GESTURE STUDY Boldini began his studies using charcoal and
long, expressive lines. Before he began on a
portrait he often did several sketches of his
sitters and would then work from these.
In this step we will create a charcoal
study using Painter’s Charcoal and Conte
Crayon brushes.
