ABSTRACT

Anne, a 41-year-old, came to my office for an evaluation. She was the mother of three children: two girls and a boy. At our first meeting, she described that she had been feeling “depressed, sad, and crying at the drop of a hat. I get in my own way.” She described that these emotions felt different to her in that during most of her life she just would get through whatever she felt that she had to and move along. She was concerned now in that things were not getting any better and in fact, “my feelings are now getting in the way of my life and the care of my family.”
