ABSTRACT

This case study examines how Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill, which was one of the largest pulp and paper producers in Russia, carried out its operations and development between 1994 and 2011. The case shows that the company has been managed by the Titan Group, which reorganised the organisational structure and system of management. The new management established efficient administration and monitoring of the company’s assets and created the corporate centre that developed a uniform corporate strategy. However, narratives disclose how APPM was employed to extract wealth for a major shareholder. This lost income weakened the company when substantial sums would be required to improve processes and increase working capital.
