ABSTRACT
When someone makes the commitment to become a Foley artist, there comes a moment when he or she realizes that the responsibility to create the recipe for the sound falls on the artist, and not on someone else. This is when he or she must ask the question, “Am I a chef, or a cook?” This is not a question to be taken lightly, for in reality, all Foley artists are some combination of both. However, if you are at the stage where you are asking how to make a sound or how to approach a particular technique in Foley, then this chapter is meant to help guide you along with more speci city.
