ABSTRACT
The last chapter attacked some imitative methods of choosing causes. This one attacks some imitative methods of knowing them. The next attacks an opposite opinion, that for understanding human society the methods of science are no use at all. Mixed methods seem best, and the mixtures have political characteristics. Chapter 9 is then about functions of imagination and valuation in estimating effects, however their causes are known.
