ABSTRACT
The American Declaration of Independence proclaimed, as self-evident truths, 'that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights'; the Declaration of 1789 echoed: 'Men are born and live free and equal in their rights'; and that of 1948: 'All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights'.
